4 Reasons to Choose Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters are the solution to problems inherent to traditional sectional gutters, like corrosion and leaks at the joints. In today’s post, the residential roofing contractors at Dior Construction explain why you should choose seamless gutters over traditional ones when you replace your gutters.

1. Custom Fit — Seamless gutters feature single gutter troughs that span the entire length of the roof edge, which creates a clean look that isn’t marred by joints and seams. Unlike traditional gutters that are assembled from 10-foot lengths of pre-made gutter troughs, seamless gutters are shaped and cut on-site. In addition to improved efficiency, seamless gutters generate far less waste material, which usually comes from gutter trimmings.

2. Less Likelihood of Clogging — One of the most common causes of clogged gutters is the leaves, pine needles, and twigs that get stuck in the seams and joints. They trap leaves and other debris, which build up over time and result in clogging. With seamless gutters, this is not a problem, as the insides will be smooth from one end to the other. Nearly every roofing installation company recommends seamless gutters because the less clogging your gutters have, the less likely it will cause damage to the roof’s edge.

3. Low Maintenance — Standard gutters require a lot of maintenance. The seams and joints are sealed with caulk that gets worn out over a relatively short time, and must be reapplied to avoid leaks. Both gutter interior and exterior may require repainting or recoating from time to time to prevent corrosion.

Seamless gutters do not require as much maintenance, given that there are no seams and joints to seal. Factory-applied coatings are far more durable than standard paint, and won’t require reapplication for a long time. Alternatively, options like stainless steel or copper do not require coatings at all. Both traditional and seamless gutters will require periodic cleaning, but a good gutter protection system can help reduce, even eliminate, gutter cleaning requirements.

4. Longer Life Span — Ultimately, all these features contribute to an extended and hassle-free service life. It is no secret that seamless gutters cost more than standard gutter systems. But when you consider the convenience, savings and long life span—not to mention the boost in value and curb appeal—seamless gutters are well worth the investment.
